During #BlackMusicMonth, we discussed career families in soul music who aren’t named Jackson or Winans.
One of the greatest R&B families of all time. Writers, producers, mucians, and SANGers.
The family with one of — if not the — longest careers in soul music. The Isleys transitioned through multiple music genres and eras, from Doo Wop all the way though shiney suit R&B. No small feat.
Possibly the most underrated family in soul music, they’re rarely mentioned in modern conversations. Aside from kind of being The Jacksons lite, Leon Sylvers was an instrumental figure in the transition from Disco to Boogie.
